US crude oil inventories surged to a record, after weeks and weeks of rising storage levels, according the weekly EIA report. The Gulf Coast, in particular saw a rise in crude oil inventories and a surge in refinery activity of 400k bpd. The drawdown at the Cushing delivery point continues apace, and it is proving to be supportive to prices overall.
